Typical Project Process

People are often nervous about working with an architect for the first time. To take away some of the mystery, here’s a snapshot of how a typical project proceeds:

Programming: To start off, we will discuss your goals for this project and develop a priority list. Goals to consider can include: room and space requirements, energy savings, budget goals, activities you want to incorporate into your lifestyle with this project, upgraded aesthetics, or the feel you want your project to convey.

Schematic Design: Based on our priority list as well as your existing home or site, and municipal requirements, we will work with you to develop floor plans and a 3D model of your project

Design Development: Now we start getting to details like choosing what type of cabinets and how exactly they will be laid out, selecting millwork styles, and choosing lighting and flooring are all decisions that we will arrive at together during Design Development.

Construction Documentation: Documenting all the decisions we made during Design Development and verifying that they all will work together are the tasks of Construction Documentation.

Construction Administration: Some clients ask us to continue our involvement during the construction of their projects. This is advantageous because it keeps lines of communication flowing between the designer and the builder so that the design is built the way we envisioned.
